High Slakes is a former farmhouse situated in a secluded position on the banks of a lake and surrounded by farmland. The house is adjacent to 16 acres of woodland, and is a haven for bird-watchers and nature lovers, or those who just want to escape the hustle and bustle of today's world - but still with all modern conveniences available

The cottage is situated in the lovely Eden Valley, which lies between the Pennines and the Lakeland Fells from Mallerstang down to the Solway Firth, from here the Lake District, the Border Country and Hadrian?s Wall are within easy reach. The unspoilt fellside villages are a joy to explore.
The historic town of Appleby-in-Westmorland is 5 miles to the east.

Fishing
The two acre lake next to High Slakes is stocked with trout and is available to guests for fly fishing.
Milburn beck which flows through the farmland and past the cottage may be fished with any bait.

Horses
Accommodation, grazing and forage is available at the farm if you wish to bring your own horse or pony with you. There are many bridleways and country lanes to ride around as well as some of the farmland and the open fell is just 10 minutes ride away.
